Colt Starting

All colts require a minimum of 90 days.  This is an investment in the rest of your horse's future and career, we don’t take shortcuts ensuring that we provide our clients with the best possible outcome.

Training cost is  $1200 a month for the first 90 days. After 90 days if you decide to keep your horse in for training, the price is reduced to $1,000 a month for the duration of their stay. 

 Training Fees include: Training, Full Board and Care. 

 Additional fees that will be applied to your bill are routine farrier expense ($50* for Trims) 

 If horses need dental work during training ($200*) 

 Any medical expenses incurred, or medications given (antibiotics, or banamine) 

 Any vet bills will be billed to client. 

 Lakota also encourages horses in training to be evaluated and adjusted at least once during their training by Teri Alworth. Lakota has found, from many years of experience, that colts just like humans can often be sore or out of alignment. This is especially true after initial stages of training, saddling, and riding. Terri has produced amazing results in keeping our horses sound, healthy, and working their best. A full body adjustment session with Terri is around $200* and is usually 2 hours long.
